Buffalo Kloof has a healthy population of white and black rhino. We have proudly played our part in the rehabilitation of this keystone species since 2010. We offer the opportunity to take part in our rhino notching programme with Dr William Fowlds, which is crucial for their monitoring and protection. Administer medication, take measurements and monitor the animal while under anaesthetic - a rare, ‘behind the scenes’ chance to be up close with an incredible animal.Explore

Undoubtedly the main attraction at Buffalo Kloof is the wildlife. This land is home to iconic African species such as elephant, buffalo, leopard, cheetah, white and black rhino, and some rarely seen, elusive animals like aardvark and blue duiker. Plains game on the conservancy includes eland, sable, zebra, hartebeest and springbuck, while giraffe and impala and many others dot the grasslands.
As a result of the diversity of habitat, birdlife is extraordinarily prolific, with over 350 species recorded in and around the conservancy. The ‘dawn chorus’ is truly the melodious answer to an alarm clock!
