Gather around

The Camp Fire

Guests are naturally drawn to the large outdoor campfire in the evenings, which serves as the heart of Spekboom. This warm and inviting space not only fosters cherished moments and memorable gatherings but also encourages a return to our roots, allowing guests to connect with nature and each other in a truly meaningful way.

PRIVATE

Exclusive Use

Spekboom Bush Camp is available for exclusive bookings only, ensuring complete privacy and flexibility for your group. Your safari itinerary is fully customisable, tailored entirely to your preferences and desires, and includes your own personal guide and game viewer for an even more personalised experience.

Spekboom Bush Camp operates on solar-generated electricity.  Filtered water is sourced from a nearby borehole, and sterile drinking water is provided. Hot water is generated by specially designed boilers using wood from alien plants removed as part of our habitat restoration project, contributing to the camp’s minimal environmental footprint.

The camp is aptly named after the prolific indigenous plant Spekboom, which grows abundantly in the area. This evergreen succulent plays a vital role in sequestering atmospheric carbon in the Eastern Cape. With its remarkable capacity to absorb carbon, it is a major component of our habitat restoration efforts at Buffalo Kloof.
